While 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure technology has been a significant tool in healthcare, it is not without limitations. One of the main limitations is the size and discomfort of the traditional cuff-based devices used for ambulatory blood pressure monitoring. These devices can be bulky, uncomfortable, and may disrupt a patient's daily activities, leading to reduced compliance and inaccurate results.
Another limitation is the reliance on periodic measurements at set intervals, which may not capture sudden changes in blood pressure or provide a continuous and comprehensive picture of a patient's blood pressure patterns. This can result in missed opportunities for early detection of hypertension or masked hypertension, and inaccurate assessment of the effectiveness of blood pressure management interventions.
